Life Expectations: Are You Where You Thought You Would Be?

What you expect from life is crucially important, but how is this measured? A leading measure of how well a society is doing touches upon expectations. Well-being is correlated with how many people report that they are thriving, and you'd expect that in prosperous developed countries, a healthy percentage of people think they are thriving. However, very few societies can boast one-third of their population reaching this level. Which means that for many, expectations have fallen very far short.

If you look at your own life, where do you stand with your expectations? I think the answer for most people focuses on three areas: money, family, and relationships. If you are in a happy marriage or partnership, surrounded by a happy family, and free from financial problems, you probably count yourself very lucky. So many people fall sort of these goals, and few are so fulfilled that they'd consider themselves to be thriving.

Yet from a different perspective, one that looks from the inside out, these externals markers shouldn't be our measure of fulfillment. In reality, almost all the causes of frustration, lack of fulfillment, and the feeling of being stuck are due to one thing: low expectations. Psychological studies have consistently shown that earning more money, beyond feeling fairly comfortable, doesn't lead to greater happiness. In fact, seeing yourself in terms of money, possessions, status, and career success is the same as selling yourself woefully short—your inner potential still needs to be awakened.

Measures for Fulfillment

Here are some goals that bring growing fulfillment over a lifetime:

  • Finding out who you really are.
  • Expanding your awareness every day.
  • Living according to a higher vision.
  • Giving of yourself to others.
  • Following your own truth.
  • Being a model for your children to live up to.
  • Exploring the spiritual dimension of life.
  • Setting a difficult, meaningful goal and achieving it.
  • Becoming a master at an art or craft.
  • Acting as a mentor to the young and/or disadvantaged.
  • Delving into the world's wisdom traditions.

By these measures, which are time-honored and time-tested, countless modern people who consider themselves well-off have barely begun to discover what they can really achieve. Despite economic ups and downs, we live in astonishingly prosperous times by any historical measure. The sages, saints, and spiritual guides of the great traditions would look at our situation and expect us to evolve in our inner life, not endlessly pursue more things driven by blind consumerism. In India, the choice has always been between Vidya (spiritual knowledge) and Avidya(ignorance of spiritual knowledge). The same fork in the road exists today, in every society.

It may be too simple to say that raising your expectations leads to happiness while lowering them leads to unhappiness. Life is too unpredictable for that. But for centuries the inner path has been extolled as the best thing about being human. Therefore, it isn't simplistic to say that for someone who hasn't explored the inner path, the bar of expectations has been set much too low.

Explore These 7 Questions to Help You Design Your Ideal Day

ByMolly Downs

Here are seven questions to explore to help you to design your day (and your life) in a way that is aligned according to your unique needs and desires. You also may find yourself much more productive—doing less and achieving more.

Before you begin, first go to a quiet space and take a moment to center yourself with a few breaths, relaxing every muscle in your body. Once you feel totally relaxed, ask yourself the following questions (Don’t edit—just write down whatever comes to you).

1. How Do I Want to Feel Today?

List 3-5 outcomes for how you want to feel during your day. For example, you may want to feel calm, productive, happy, abundance, or at peace. Whatever feelings come to you, just let them flow onto the page.

2. What Is the Result I’m After Today? What Do I Really Want to Achieve?

This can be related to big picture goals or anything that you want to bring more of into your life. Maybe it’s related to your fitness or health, or maybe it’s to spend extra time with your kids or eat dinner as a family.

3. What 3 Actions Can I Take Today That Would Have the Most Impact on My Goal?

Write them down. They can be small tasks like going for a short walk in the morning, or maybe something bigger, like a project you’ve been putting off for some time.

4. How Can I Let Go of the HOW and Allow the Result to Unfold with Less Effort?

For each of the listed action items, release any fear and limitations of how you think it should work out, or won’t work out. Let go of your expectations, and instead just focus on the baby steps to your outcome.

5. How Can I Receive Support Today?

Who can you call on in your life to create more space in your day? Support yourself in the form of a short morning mediation session. This can yield powerful results to the flow and feeling of your entire day.

6. What Can I Do to Take Excellent Care of Myself Today?

Think about adding small self-care rituals to your morning, noon, and evening routines. Soaking in an epsom bath or taking some time for a healthy and satisfying meal are small ways to add in self-care that can yield powerful results.

7. How Can I Bring More Fun and Laughter to My Day?

Maybe the answer lies in watching a comedy at night, or spending time outside playing with your kids.

You may want to schedule this as a journaling session you do at the end of your day—it can help you design your tomorrow, and may bring you lasting and powerful results helping you to live a life you love in the here and now.

Angel Numbers By Doreen Virtue part 1

You have guardian angels with you right now — continuously — guaranteed! Your angels guide you through your thoughts, feelings, words, and visions. They also show you signs—that is, things that you see repeatedly with your physical eyes. One of their favorite signs relates to number sequences. These are numerals that you repeatedly see on license plates, phone numbers, clocks, and so on.

If you’ve ever wondered about the significance of these number sequences, you’re not alone. Many people have asked us about their meaning during our angel workshops. So, we went to the Source and asked for guidance to interpret the meanings of repetitive number sequences. As a longtime student of Pythagorean sacred numerology (including a past life as his student) and also an angel channeler, I rapidly received information as to what the angels were conveying through these sequences.

My workshop audiences loved it when I discussed the significance of these groups of numbers, and asked if I would compile a list for them to refer to. So, my book, Healing with the Angels, included a chapter listing the meanings. After Healing with the Angels many people said that they carried the book with them as a reference tool for interpreting the numbers they saw. They asked for an even more comprehensive book that was pocket-size which has just been published under the title, Angel Numbers.

Number-sequence interpretation is an easy way to receive messages from your angels. Numerals are everywhere, from digital clocks to billboards to license plates. Each number has a unique vibrational frequency relating directly to its meaning.

This ancient wisdom harkens back to great teachers such as Hermes, Plato, and Pythagoras. Pythagoras said that everything in the Universe is mathematically precise, and each number has its own vibration, meaning, and virtue. Plato wrote everything in the Universe is built from basic geometrical shapes derived from numbers, such as triangles (from three) and cubes (from four). The sacred mystical Jewish text of the Zohar (Kabbalah) discusses the power of the vibrations from numbers and letters.

The angels also say that the placement of the numbers in a sequence holds special meaning. For example, when there are three or more numbers, the center digit is of primary focus. The angels say that this number represents the “heart” of the matter.

Numerology is one of the few sacred sciences that has kept its magic from ancient to modern times. The angels remind us that we’re all alchemists, and that we’re powerful enough to manifest our true desires through Divine magic. Numbers point out the importance of seeing Heavenly messages third-dimensionally in order to show us the lessons, the growth opportunities, and the guidance contained within each of our experiences.

Angel Numbers By Doreen Virtue part 2

Below is a sampling of some number sequences your angels may show to you. Ask for clarification if the numbers’ message is unclear by saying to them silently or aloud, “Please clearly explain so I’ll easily understand.” As with any divination tool, defer to your own inner wisdom as the ultimate authority. In other words, if in doubt, then trust your gut.

 Three-digit Numbers

111 – Monitor your thoughts carefully, and be sure to only think about what you want, not what you don’t want. The sequence is a sign that there is a gate of opportunity opening up, and your thoughts are manifesting into form at record speeds. The 111 is like the bright light of a flash bulb. It means that the universe has just taken a snapshot of your thoughts and is manifesting them into form. Are you pleased with what thoughts the universe has captured? If not, correct your thoughts…ask your angels to help you with this if you have difficulty controlling or monitoring your thoughts.

123 — Simplify your life. Get rid of anything that’s pulling at your energy, time, or finances—especially anything that pulls you away from your life purpose. The ascended masters are helping you with this simplification.

222 — Have faith. Everything’s going to be all right. Don’t worry about anything, as this situation is resolving itself beautifully for everyone involved.

333 — The Ascended Masters are near you, desiring you to know that you have their help, love and companionship. Call upon the Ascended Masters often, especially when you see the number 3 patterns around you. Some of the more famous Ascended Masters include: Jesus, Moses, Mary, Quan Yin and Yogananda.

444 — Thousands of angels surround you at this moment, loving and supporting you. You have a very strong and clear connection with the angelic realm, and are an Earth angel yourself. You have nothing to fear—all is well.

555 — Buckle your seatbelts. A major life change is upon you. This change should not be viewed as being “positive” or “negative” since all change is but a natural part of life’s flow. Perhaps this change is an answer to your prayers, so continuing seeing and feeling yourself to be at peace.

666 — Your thoughts are out of balance right now, focused too much on the material world. This number sequence asks you to balance your thoughts between Heaven and Earth. Like the famous, “Sermon on the Mount” the angels ask you to focus on spirit and service, and know your material and emotional needs will be met as a result.

777 — The angels applaud you… “congratulations, you’re on a roll! Keep up the good work and know your wish is coming true.” This is an extremely positive sign and you should also expect more miracles to occur.

888 — A phase of your life is about to end, and this is a sign to give you forewarning to prepare. This number sequence may mean you are winding up an emotional career or relationship phase. It also means there is light at the end of the tunnel. In addition it means, The crops are ripe. Don’t wait to pick and enjoy them. In other words, don’t procrastinate in making your move or enjoying the fruits of your labor.

875 — The changes you’re making have put you on the right path for manifesting abundance in all ways.

999 — Get to work, Lightworker! The world needs your Divine life purpose right now. Fully embark upon your sacred mission without delay or hesitation.

000 — A reminder you are one with God, and to feel the presence of your Creator’s love within you. Also it is a sign that a situation has gone full circle.

Angel Numbers By Doreen Virtue part 3

 Four-digit Numbers

To interpret the meaning of four-digit numbers, break the number sequence into three digits and read that interpretation. Then, add the last digit’s interpretation to know the meaning of the entire sequence. For instance, to interpret 2048, begin with the first three digits: 204, and read its interpretation:

204 — God and the angels ask for your patience. Stay filled with faith that your prayers have been heard and are answered.

Then, read interpretation of the last of the four digits in 2048, which is 8:

8 — Know that financial abundance is coming to you now.

Put these two interpretations together and you have the meaning of 2048: God and the angels ask for your patience. Stay filled with faith that your prayers have been heard and are answered. Financial abundance is coming to you now.

Summarizing these combined interpretations, then, 2048 means: “Heaven assures you that your money needs will be supplied. Have patience.”

Five-digit Numbers

You can interpret five-digit numbers in a similar fashion. Just take the first three digits and read its meaning, then read the interpretation of the last two digits in the number sequence. Combine these meanings and then summarize them.

Here’s an example using the five-digit number sequence, 99900:

999 — Get to work, Lightworker! The world needs your Divine life purpose right now. Fully embark upon your sacred mission without delay or hesitation.

And here is the meaning of the last two numbers:

00 — This means that the Creator is emphasizing a message to you and asks that you pay attention and follow the guidance without delay.

Next, add the meanings of the two together to find that 99900 means:

Get to work, Lightworker! The world needs your Divine life purpose right now. Fully embark upon your sacred mission without delay or hesitation. The Creator is emphasizing this message to you and asks that you pay attention and follow the guidance without delay.

In other words, God wants you to fully commit yourself to your life’s purpose…now!

Angel Numbers By Doreen Virtue part 4

Six-digit Numbers

To interpret the meaning of a six-digit number such as 225496, you’d break it into two or three-digit components. In this case, we’ll break it into 225 and 496. Then, read the interpretation for the first section, which is:

225 — Trust that this change is for the best. You are in a period of transition—letting go of the past and that which is no longer working. Let go and move forward with confidence and faith.

Then, you’d look up the meaning of the second three-digit segment:

496 — The angels ask you to make your Divine life mission your top priority right now. Don’t worry about how it will come about, or any other material aspect concerning your purpose. The angels help with everything.

Next, compile the meanings of each segment so that 225496 means:

Trust that this change is for the best. You’re in a period of transition—letting go of the past and that which is no longer working. Let go and move forward with confidence and faith. The angels ask you to make your Divine life mission your top priority right now. Don’t worry about how it will come about, or any other material aspect concerning your purpose. The angels help with everything.

This is a message, in summary, that says, “Have faith in the changes you’re experiencing. The angels ask you to focus on your Divine life mission, and they’ll supply all your material needs.”

You’ll love the continual conversations you’ll engage in with Spirit, with the help of the interpretations you’ll find in this article. Once you begin interpreting the number sequences, you’ll discover spiritual signs and messages everywhere you go. The more you learn about and notice number sequences, the more you’ll realize that Heaven is always with you—speaking with you, guiding you, and loving you. Have fun!

A Message from Lynette:

When Doreen invited me to work with her on this venture, I accepted gratefully and understood that this was an important assignment. I traveled to a very special place, Hawaii, which is home to my soul, in order to connect with God, the angels, and ascended masters while working on this extensive list. I was guided to do most of the channeling work in some of the sacred spaces of the island—namely, Honaunau (often called the city of refuge); the Paleaku Garden Peace Sanctuary; the Kilauea volcano; and in the beautiful ocean while swimming with the dolphins, whales, and other incredible sea life.

Through prayer, meditation, and studies with God, the angels, and the ascended masters, I learned that these number sequences revealed additional information, which I used in my spiritual counseling practice. I found that the numbers I saw around my clients acted as portals through which I could retrieve specific Divine guidance. This guidance, which sprang from the sacred numbers, has had profound healing effects upon my clients as well as myself.

Many of them have told me that as they recognize and interpret the numbers around them, they feel more connected to the angels and God. This connection allows them to open the door to an incredible connection which brings them peace, hope, and love. Understanding and using angelic numerology has helped me receive more detailed and in-depth messages for myself and my clients.

Beneficial Thought for Sept 2016

It's time to close chapters.

If you like reading, and if you are here then we know that you do, then you can relate to the feeling of being totally bummed out when a good book is finished. Or maybe you can relate to staying up all night reading because you got to the end of the chapter that you were reading, but couldn't put it down. This happens to us in life as well. But the reality of chapters and books ending is that these moments in life are nothing to fear. No book can go on forever. Some very good authors try, by creating a series that keep us hooked for page after page, book after book. But every book, and every series, must come to an end. And sometimes in life, so too must a chapter come to an end. We are at one of those turning points now, with the Full Moon in Pisces and lunar eclipse happening this week. A lot of us are seeing some chapters come to a close. And a lot of us are resisting this. Don't. What do you normally do when you arrive at the grief of a finished book? Well, you start another one of course. So this is your mission from the Universe this month with eclipse season.

What book are you starting? You may not even know yet what book you are finishing. Or maybe you do, but you just haven't quite mustered up the courage to make that final call. Either way, know that no matter what book or chapter closes for you during eclipse season, the reason for this book closing is because, you are done with it. Plain and simple. Grieving the change is only going to cost you valuable time and energy. It is what it is, and it isn't going to change. So what do you need to do next? Start another book. Go onto the next chapter.

This 'what am I going to do now' mentality is futile for you. Most of the times, the changes that eclipses bring are permanent, or long lasting. They also happen to us for a reason, and pretending they aren't happening isn't the way to grow towards the path of abundance the Universe wants us to have. Accept that your book or chapter is over. And then get excited. Why? Because now you get to start a fresh new page. What will that be?

Natasha Bedingfield has a song for this, and it's a great song to keep in mind for September 2016. It's called, "Unwritten" and you can imagine what it is about. It's about living your life with arms wide open, letting the Sun and the Moon illuminate the words that you can not find, feeling the rain on your skin, and just getting excited about the fresh new page of life before you. And that's exactly what you need to do this month. Keep playing that song over and over again if that's what you need to do. Let it rain, let it pour, feel the rain on your skin and be okay with it. Then, let the Sun and the Moon show you the way on your fresh new page. What are you going to do now? Put the pen in your hand, and, as the song says, the ending is unplanned. It's not the ending that matters though, is it? It's about the plot in between the pages that got you hooked. What plot will you write for yourself this month?

How to Cope with Spiritually-Based Hypersensitivity

© Neva J Howell, All Rights Reserved

When the body is stressed, from either physical, mental or emotional challenge, very often the breathing becomes shallow. This is part of the fight or flight syndrome. Avoid it if you want to integrate the sensations faster and with more completeness.

Breathe deeply, center yourself, and ask Spirit for balance.

Even in situations where you feel you can't retreat, it is almost always possible to go to the bathroom, or just be silent and breathe deeply for a few minutes.

Ask for what you need if others are involved. Take whatever break you can from the energies and do something to renew yourself.

If needed, retreat from whatever is over-stimulating you until you can integrate what is being felt.

Use spiritual healing tools such as crystals, aromatherapy blends of essential oils and flower essences. A dab of flower essence over the third eye can restore balance and calm as can essential oils if used with intent. Calming essential oils include chamomile and lavendar but really, any oil you find particularly soothing can provide assistance.

Muscle-test or have a kinestheologist muscle-test you if you are like me and have trouble testing yourself. If your system responds better to crystals than flower essences or oils, find someone knowledgeable in the use of specific crystals and ask for one to help with your symptoms.

The Balancing Power of Water: Regardless of the spiritual awakening symptoms you might be experiencing, water is one of your strongest allies.

Use water for balance and healing during times of hyper-sensitivity. In fact, water should be the first thing you reach for because of the inner alignment it can provide if sipped with consciousness.

Applying a drop of water to your third eye area can help balance incoming energies. This simple practice is even more powerful when you apply energized water. Energizing water is easy. Just pray with it or put a word on the bottle with the intent to infuse the frequency of the word, such as peace, calmness, or healing, into the water.

Or you can use energized water that has been potentialized by others for spiritual purpose.

Hot showers are also wonderful for cleansing the aura and restoring energetic balance.

Address Anxiety, the result of fear of the unknown: One hidden cause of hypersensitivity is anxiety. If we consciously or unconsciously resist vibrational shifts, or we go into fear about them, we become anxious and causes what could have just been a very intense integration to become a hypersensitive nightmare.

Check in to see if anxiety may be a factor and, if it is, consider a natural anxiety remedy to help calm the senses until you can walk in a more grounded way with whatever new information is coming into your field.

Being hyper-sensitive almost always has a component of anxiety to it, especially if we find ourselves going into fear about what is happening or about the unknown.

How intense can hypersensitivity get? Well, sometimes I hear people talking two rooms away from me, and it feels like they are yelling in my ear. Sometimes, I can hear a Spider walking on the wall. There have been heart connections so strongly with someone in pain that I have lost all sense of my own body and felt only theirs.

When hypersensitivity response is primarily anger, there are anger management techniques that can help

So I'm not losing my mind then? I get that question a lot from folks who are on an active spiritual path. I can't say for sure whether you are losing your mind or not (sometimes, I've pondered my own sanity) but I can say with certainty that all these symptoms can be part of a very sane but very intense spiritual acceleration and awakening process.

In time, you will learn to function in this new awareness although the more you accelerate, the more intense these "hyper-sensitive" periods may temporarily become.

How to Make the Perfect Vision Board

Making a vision board can be like shopping at the mall, you see everything that you want but you can only buy so much! Vision boards are really awesome for keeping your attention focused on your goal so you can achieve them with ease and passion. We can all use a daily and beautiful reminder of the things we wish to achieve and experience to keep our eyes on the prize and away from doubt! Here is a great method to make a vision board that your bright future will thank you for:

Step 1: The Power of Now

While you are collecting pictures and words for your board, start with finding photos that represent what you have already in your life that you are thankful for and proud of!

Just take a look at your life and ignore the things you want to change for a moment. Find things in your life that you just wouldn’t know what to do without. Family members, friends, your job, your great health, and maybe even awards you have won. You can be as creative as you want with this. This will remind you that you are already on the right track to getting everything you want in life.

Step 2: 12 Months from Now

Think about some changes you want to make and some new additions you would like to have within the next 12 months. While you are picking these items, make sure they are goals that you are going to be devoted to!

Pay attention to areas that you care about but need constant reminders of like career, fitness, recreational desires, finances, relationships, and of course GIFTS!

Step 3: Bucket List Goals

With this step, think BIG! Think of those big goals that you want to achieve. These don’t have to have an exact time to be achieved, just think about some big extravagant things you want to happen in your life at some point. Travel to Europe, live in a palace, become a millionaire, have a ton of fun with this.

Step 4: Life Motto

With this last step to making the perfect vision board, this is where you sum up your life in words. Find some words that describe the amazing life you want to live; SUCCESSFUL, JOY, HONOR, CREATIVITY, LOVE. You could even find a quote that sums up what you believe in and stick in the middle of your board.

Of course, the perfect vision board is whatever board you decided to make. There is no right or wrong way to make a spectacular vision board. However, the best vision board you could ever make is a board that you are going to put your all into to make them happen!

*~* How to find your Animal Totem *~*

How To Find Your Animal Totem

An Animal Totem is an important symbolic object used by a person to get in touch with specific qualities found within an animal which the person needs, connects with, or feels a deep affinity toward.

You can have several animal guides through out your life. Sometimes an animal guide will come into your life for a short period of time, and then be replaced by another depending on the journey or direction you are headed toward. Your guide will instruct and protect you as you learn how to navigate through your spiritual and physical life. When you find an animal that speaks strongly to you or feel you must draw more deeply into your life, you might fill your environment with images of the animal to let the animal know it's welcome in your space. Animal guides can help you get back to your Earthly roots, and reconnect with nature by reminding you that we are all interconnected. To first do this you need to know what your Animal Totem is.

If You Don't Know

If you don't know what your Animal Totem is there are several questions you can ask yourself. All of the questions below are designed to get you thinking about a prominent animal in your life. There are no right or wrong answers. Only you can truly know which Animal Totem(s) are right for your journey.

  1. Since we are drawn to that which resonates with us, what animal, bird, or insect are you drawn to?

  2. When you go to the park, forest, or zoo what animal are you most interested in seeing?

  3. What animal do you most frequently see when you're out in nature or in the city?

  4. What animals are you currently interested in learning about?

  5. Which animal do you find most frightening or intriguing?

  6. Have you ever been bitten or attacked by an animal?

  7. Is there a recurring animal in your dreams or do you have one you have never forgotten?

Still Uncertain?

If you are still uncertain which animal is your totem, here a few exercises you can do to come closer to the answer. You must not try to force the animal to come, it can pick up on that energy and be put off. Being patient and doing the following exercises will draw your animal totem to you.

  1. Ask yourself what animal has played a meaningful part in your world? If you're unsure, make a list of animals that have drawn your interest or have left a deep impression on you from paintings, photographs, stories, movies, carvings, etc.

  2. Which animal shows up in your life most frequently? Keep a journal of the animals present in your dreams or that you encounter through the day for the next month. How did the animal behave? Did you interact with the animal?

  3. Find a place where you can be alone to meditate. Sit quietly and ask your animal to make it's nature known to you. Feel free to use tools such as incense, smudge, and candles to help you.

  4. Don't give up, sometimes your animal totem is nearby watching to see if you're serious about connecting with it. Keep doing the above exercises until your animal totem makes itself known to you.

" How do I find the name of my guide"?

Please refer to the following activity and you too will be able to consult with your guide, it's simple and fun to do and the results are totally awe inspiring... Enjoy <3

To connect with your guide I would like you to do the following exercise ")

1. Sit in a place that is calm and serene.
No music, sounds or chatter is to surround you.
Total silence to be able to concentrate, if you would like to burn some incense or candles that is fine just no noise so as to allow you to concentrate and hear clearly.

2. Clear your mind of all worldly matters. All thoughts of today and all your yesterdays.

3. Allow yourself to be in a state of calm and begin by asking the universe if there is anything it wants you to know. Listen carefully and take heed of anything that is said. Then when you feel that you have a connection ask " what is my guide's name"?
Allow yourself to be drawn to a single name and at that time ask if this name is your guides name.

The voices inside you will chime together with this particular name and you can be assured that that name will be the name that your guide would prefer to be addressed by.

Once you have discovered your guides name you can then talk to him/her and address them as the name they have given. You may find the name you are given might have a particular meaning to you or the circumstances you are currently experiencing.

When I did this activity I was given the name of my guide as Alair, then when I realised what a lair was it dawned on me that it was a den, a safe haven for animals. Hence the name became my safe haven from the danger I was experiencing, she became my protector and now I have been able to seek permission to use this name as my pen name for my poetry and my readings, hence AlairrialA the same name and then the same name spelt backwards. My guide is pleased with me using her name as such and now presents me with many opportunities to make this name stand out of the crowd and to be recognised in the future as being a wonderful name attached to a wonderful soul, me!

Thank you and I am sure you will be enlightened at the end of this exercise and you will be referring to your guide as a name you have discovered. Speak gently when you do know his/her name and he/she will be there to guide you, do not demand of their assistance to help you and always try to help yourself first, then when all else fails and you have given it your all, hand it over to your guide and they will do the work for you, be sure to express your gratitude as this pleases your guide. Never wish harm on another and always request in ways that will allow good to come to you and those affected.

Thank you and enjoy <3

What is Meditation?

Meditation is a word defined by many meanings. For this reason, the subject of meditation is so often mystifying and confusing for the truth seeker. In its purest definition, meditation refers to the way, the method, path or process by which one is led from within, to a universal center of calm awareness and inspired intuition. Therefore, the word meditation is best understood as a verb or action taken toward an ultimate objective, rather than as a noun describing a state of being or a goal in and of itself.
The chanting of repetitious words, songs and mantras of any culture, as well as focusing the attention on an outer or inner image, mandala or candle flame, are most often used as a means to assist the practitioner with their desire to transcend the general field or train of thought-forms, and to interrupt its perpetual presence in the conscious thinking mind. Yet these activities and practices which developed from and are more suited to past generations, only penetrate to the surface levels of spiritual experience and transformation of act and attitude, leaving the deepest of today's needs undiscovered, non-confronted and unresolved.

Granted we may feel quite relieved to be free of the ever-present nagging compulsions associated with our uncontrolled thinking and feeling. However, a true transcendence of mental activity comes as a result of a discriminating examination of the content of our thoughts, rather than to avoid or discard them for the purpose of a too quick resolution to the various psychological problems and complexes that ironically only the thought-forms themselves can reveal. And so we must not be mislead to believe that detached or transcendental living can be achieved by a mere avoidance of thought with its accompanying pull upon our bodies and minds.

Thoughts, in order to lose their hold on us, must be understood for what they really are; the result of emotional needs and desires on the many levels of our being. There exists a constructive healthy mode of thinking and an unhealthy destructive mode of thinking, and it is meditation's true purpose and responsibility to bring an individual to a clear understanding and definition of that difference of mind and thought patterns.

The function of a healthy mind is to entertain thought as the vehicle for inspired inner direction and motivation. Thus the meditation process encourages the capacity of the discriminating mind to develop a continuous discerning perspective; the purpose of which is to clarify which thought patterns are worthy of support from those that are not desirable.

Moreover, there can be confusion between the more superficial forms of meditation mentioned above and those that reach to deeper levels of understanding, because the more simple forms can appear to bring about similar and immediate results, that the more profound meditation needs time in which to develop. In fact, one very revealing effect of a more penetrating and productive meditation is its difficulty in performance in the beginning stages, in contrast to the ease with which the other forms of meditation are practiced and experienced.

It is much easier to ignore the observation of thought content than it is to confront it directly for the purpose of self-renewal. But the calm and centered state of being and attitude developed from a true desire to reintegrate healthy thinking into the mind comes only with a greater comprehension of the worthiness of dedicated effort and sincere daily practice.

The serious meditator should not expect to achieve results too quickly, because the first stages of meditation present the practitioner with an invitation to view and become familiar with the content of the subconscious mind. Here in our subconscious thinking reside all the motivating forces and impatience that play upon our emotions and lead us into action. The source of our shortcomings and character issues can be revealed to us through an examination of the thoughts we entertain on levels below our conscious awareness. Thoughts are alive and often in a holding pattern, so to speak, until an emotion is stimulated to bring them to the surface or threshold of the aware and self-observing conscious mind.

Scientology and Biofeedback have devised a method of registering these latent emotions and thought-forms through the use of a device inspired by the mechanism used in the polygraph test. The person undergoing the process of auditing or biofeedback goes back through time and personal experience to uncover the memories, known as engrams in Scientology, which touch off strong emotions which then surface and register powerfully on the auditing or biofeedback machine. It is these unrecognized past emotional reactions, buried in the subconscious, that give life and energy to present, and often negative emotionally conditioned responses.

Through the process of becoming increasingly conscious of powerful and unrecognized emotionally charged reactions to events imbedded in the memory, a person is gradually cleared of these previously conditioned patterns of responses. The mind eventually lets go of these dormant motivations stored in the memory when they are recognized as the supporting factor keeping the behavioral problems perpetually alive.

But there is a principle lacking with the practice of Scientology and Biofeedback which can truly free an individual from continued programmed input, and this lies in the development of a non-emotional reaction to provocation in future experience. And so although the process of clearing the subconscious from past trauma does to a degree take place with the practice of auditing or biofeedback, there is no preparation or instruction given for the avoidance of future emotional programming.

Private meditation practice can and does assist the seeker through his or her own personal contact with an inner self-auditing system. As well, one can prepare oneself against further emotional programming through the method of introducing the concept of non-emotional response into the thinking process. This does not mean that a person becomes cold or detached to the point of not living life to the fullest. What it means rather, is that the emotions and thinking are monitored by a higher and more discriminating conscious awareness, which becomes stronger in presence in the mind, as the practice of meditation continues daily. By slowing down the pattern of emotional reactions, we begin to realize that we have a choice in all circumstances. We can react to everything emotionally and therefore give life to negative thinking or we can refrain from making emotional judgments and observe dispassionately the shortcomings of others and situations that previously provoked our own negative responses.

The power to control one's own emotional reactions brings us to the threshold of potential for expanded experience hitherto blocked from our awareness and understanding. Life's doors of perception and creativity open to us, and because of our new and transcendental view of circumstances and opportunities, we can take up the challenge of real creative living. We then give life to our own greater inner reality.

It is the programmed, negative, and traumatic memories that get in the path of real life growth and development. Freed of these emotional thought forms, which haunt us from the living grave of the subconscious, along with a preparedness for overcoming reactions to future stress, we can finally take advantage of the promise and joy life has to offer to the truly dedicated seeker.

Meditation is an action word, a verb, and its real path leads to the noun of spiritual contentment and an ever-expanding state of love, light and calm awareness.

Please don't ignore!

Written by Rebecca Henley

Throughout our lives we are bought souls into our care ") we are given babies to nurture, children to raise, strangers to befriend and partners to love ") we're given foe to forgive, animals to look after, feed and shelter from the elements... And all others, too many to mention... If we turned our backs on all those who seek our help, our guidance, then we become ignorant to our life's plan! How often do you find a stray cat, dog or bird that needs to be accepted in and given attention? Or a child crawls beneath your wings and seeks safety with you! Maybe that strange woman down the road is constantly seeking your attention and you just 'can't' find the time of day in your busy schedule to stop and say "hi"... Or that baby that's been sleeping soundly all night whilst you've been up and worrying about tomorrow now wakes in the early hours of the morning and needs you when you're just about to retire... We cannot ignore those who have been placed on our paths, we may be their only saviour, without us they may die from the heat or the cold, they may stray off track or join the wrong peer group and maybe that woman down the road who is constantly seeking your attention could be suffering from a brain injury or an illness that only you could understand... When souls enter our lives and seek our attention, or help to assist them back on their chosen path... Please don't ignore them... You may be all they've got! And besides you never know what they've been placed on your path for! Take them in or at least acknowledge their existence! Often that homeless man could be your greatest teacher or that pesky woman may be your next student! Open your hearts and your minds and learn to give! And in return you will receive life's greatest gift! Love!

7 Things You Can Do to Raise Your Spiritual Consciousness by The Art of Ancient Wisdom

Written by The Art of Ancient Wisdom

The consciousness of the planet is rising.

Gone are the days of living a life without purpose, of toiling the soil meaninglessly without conscious awareness of a greater destiny.

The strategies of the industrial age no longer apply to this age of awakening where people do not simply exist to be part of an assembly line.

That is why it is very important to raise your spiritual consciousness – as the late Stephen Covey of ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ have taught us that one will only attain true balance a program for self-renewal encompasses the four areas of your life: physical, social/emotional, mental, and spiritual.

By doing these 7 things, you will be able to raise your spiritual consciousness and live a life completely aligned to your destiny.

1. Drop all forms of dogma in your life
Dogma keeps us bound to strict rituals and lower vibrations.

A dogma is when a person believes in a certain ritual and has ignored the essence of what something truly means.

Many spiritual teachers taught us the way to live life. But that doesn’t stop their followers from forgetting and distorting the true meaning of what they were teaching and prioritizing the messenger more than the message which is what essence is all about.

By surrendering attachments to dogma, we can truly allow the natural flow of the universe to fascinate us and welcome diversity and true beauty in our lives.

2. Set time to be alone in nature
Withdrawing from nature can sap the life out of our spirit and turn us into walking corpses.

Living in concrete jungles and cubicles is not the way human beings were meant to spend most of their lives.

Even just a few minutes a day in the open air with our feet in the grass drawing energy from mother earth can truly help us to raise our consciousness.

3. Connect authentically with others
There are times in our lives where we need to be professional.

But most of the time we need to connect authentically with others and have meaningful connections.

A big temptation of the 21st century is to blame social media for the breakdown of meaningful connections.

But if you look deeper, social media is merely a vehicle.

It’s what people do with it that is the problem.

They just didn’t want to connect deeply in the first place and they use social media as a substitute for shallow conversations and voyeurism.

Using social media as the scapegoat is like saying money is evil when it is actually neutral.

On the contrary, it’s easier and cheaper to connect with others than ever. Skype is a good example.

When you set the intention to connect authentically, doors will open up for your soul.

4. Being present
“Yesterday is History, Tomorrow a Mystery, Today is a Gift, Thats why it’s called the Present”

People can become preoccupied with the past and regret their actions for what they wish they had not done or wished they should have done.

People can also become obsessed about worrying for the future as though the apocalypse is coming.

While the past and future have their place, the only real control we have is over the present.

Being present helps us to stay aware in the now.

Do not squander the present moment by worrying about the future and reminiscing the past.

Not being present turns your present into the past and regret sets in about the wasted time, just as obsession about the future wastes today’s time and the future will catch up with you eventually.

5. Practice random acts of kindness
A spiritually conscious person recognizes that we are all the same.

We are all one.

If the human race is represented by a body, helping another human being is no different from the hand helping the feet when the feet is wounded.

The hand doesn’t say, “You are the feet and I am the hand. I have nothing to do with you as you are not me.”

When one part of the body hurts, the entire body suffers along with it.

Likewise, random acts of kindness helps us to reconnect back to the simple joy of being one with the human race.

6. Prioritize your passion in your life
When a person says they have no time for their passion, it means that they are not truly passionate about what they say they are passionate about.

This is when a person is disconnected from their spirit.

Our spirit is designed to enjoy our passions.

True passion will allow people to pave a way to it.

We like certain things for a reason and there is nothing more consciousness raising than being immersed with what makes your heart sing.

7. Truly live life instead of living in theory
In the movie “The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty”, Ben Stiller plays a character who lived all his adventures in his head.

He didn’t have the courage to truly go out there and live his adventures.

Living in theory and concepts is merely a shadow of what human life is capable of.

The actual journey may seem long and hard, but the rewards of truly living and experiencing will awaken your spirit to your true nature and be truly alive.

Find your purpose!

Written by Rebecca Henley

Hi all may I ask you something?

Do you feel that you are worthless? useless? not worth a dime?
Do you sometimes think there is nothing you can do to put your life back on track?

The reason I'm asking you these questions is because I want to share something with you all.

Something I found that helps me to get out of bed each and every day.
Something that if used correctly can change the feelings of worthlessness and uselessness, the feeling of being not worth a dime!

Something that if used the correct way can in fact change your entire life in an instant!

I'd like to share this with you all ")

My secret to being able to accept whatever comes along, never having to question it's reason, never having to give much thought to the effect that it could have on my life.

The special thing I have to share with you is simply this, purpose!

I have a purpose in life, I have a reason to make the best of my life regardless of what is being dealt to me.

I believe in myself so fully that I wouldn't consider that I have no reason to be alive!

My purpose in life is what keeps that smile upon my face. The reason I wake every morning and face the new day ahead.

I have always served others in many ways throughout my early life and I still serve others but in different ways.

If I didn't have a purpose I wouldn't be able to get out of bed each morning. I wouldn't be able to make plans for the day ahead.

I would just lie in my bed and say " To hell with it", "There's no real reason to get up", "To face the day", I would roll over and pick up my phone or I pad or what ever is lying in my reach and just stay in bed and laze around not having a care in the world.

But!!! I have a purpose to get up, head to the loo, then continue to the kitchen, chuck the kettle on, prepare a lovely hot cup of chai tea, ") pick up my phone, I pad, share a lot of statuses and pics to my pages and answer all my notifications, stand in the kitchen enjoying my nice hot cup of chai tea and contemplating the day, slide back the wire screen door and step outside.

Outside is a new, exciting, world being built around me ") wonderful new adventures are being set upon by my plans ") I look around me and I see purpose!!!

What is there now will not be the same in time to come! What is there now is partially a dream coming true! What I see in front of me is not what others see! What I see is beautiful. Defining a dream. Can I truly say it will come true. Yes!!!!!
Because I have purpose!!!

One day soon I'm going to step outside into a brand new world around me. Filled with love and beauty. Everything I've only ever seen in my dreams. All I ever hoped for has been given life.

I wake each day with a purpose!!!

My secret to being happy, having no steady income and having to get up day after day and deal with the aftermath effects of breast cancer and at the same time I get out there and enforce my career in being a meditation teacher/holistic counsellor, give intuitive readings, almost daily... and help create our beautiful zen garden...  is having purpose!

Knowing that I will one day have all I've ever dreamt of and so, so much more.

Knowing that I Rebecca Jane Henley aka AlairrialA has been living with purpose all along and now I am living proof that believing and having faith in your dreams will at some time in your life bring them to fruition.

That makes me a very happy soul

Live your life with purpose and you too can be a happy soul <3

Decision making and walking our own path

Written by Rebecca Henley

I would like to highlight a few things here.. REGRET.. does this mean everything we have done up until now has been regretful.. well yes! if you are not happy with how your life is then you are regretful.. those babies you gave birth to, those men you made love to to get those babies.. the actions you took and the decisions you made to take those actions.. now come on.. EVERYTHING up until now is regretful.. that party you went to and enjoyed and met your soul mate at.. that accident you had and as a result, took away all your stresses.. (that one's for me), how can you honestly say you regret your life or the decisions you made to get to where you are.. will you still be regretting EVERYTHING until the day you die.. I hope not.. DECISION MAKING... sometimes can lead to regret but again, at that time in that time of your life it was the right decision to make, and the reason I say that is because it was that decision that has bought you to where you are today.. reading this post..  the words on this page.. as for WALKING OUR OWN PATHS, we all have our own journeys to undertake, I have mine and you have your's.. doesn't mean we are all going to make the same decisions.. doesn't mean we are all going to think the same.. this is because we are all individuals.. we all have our own seperate train of thought.. sure we may make the exact same decision at the exact same time.. take for instance three people lined up and all decide to bunji jump at the exact same time.. they count three and JUMP! all three have left gravity and are in the same space of air.. BUT each individual is experiencing something different.. One may be loving the experience, heart beating fast and totally engrossed in the adventure, just can’t wait to do it again, another may be feeling the excitement but having heart palpitations and finding it hard to breathe.. thinks it maybe best not to undertake this kind of thing again, whereas the third may very well be feeling sick, have a sudden headache.. want to throw up and vows NEVER to do it again.. they all jumped, they all did it at the same time and experienced 3 different reactions.. the same act.. with only one person feeling REGRET.. a decision was made and all three carried it through now each is on THEIR OWN PATH and each have made a further DECISION... ok.. so this is what it's all about... we each make our own decisions and we each are responsible for the decision we make.. we have to accept the consequences but it is us who made the decision.. so if we continue to REGRET ever part of our DECISION MAKING and we don’t understand that WE WALK OUR OWN PATH. If we choose to ignore the fact that this is where we have bought ourselves.. then we are going to keep regretting the rest of our lives.. and that leaves no place for happiness… acceptance is the only way to happiness, forgiveness is the only way to happiness, happiness results from our DECISION MAKING and not REGRETTING our decisions and therefore allowing us to WALK OUR OWN PATHS and live and let live...

I THE EGO

I, the Ego, have been waxing fat off the land, I am that part of each of you that says, “I did

this and I did that”. I am pride, vanity and prestige.

I must be noticed or I cry and scream. As a child I have tantrums as an adult I cry. I am an introvert; shy and retiring when I have been hurt. I respond to praise, notice, and compliments.

I will go to all ends to make you notice me: I laugh; I clown; I play the fool, the Sage, the wise one, the hurt one, the persecuted one. I am even the murderer that you all know and read about, for I will be noticed in one form or another.

Jealous I am, and when others climb up the ladder and I don’t, I feel insecure. When others are praised and I am not I feel invalidated.

I give, but always with a hook; you must acknowledge my gifts and tell me you like it or I am hurt. For I am not learned to give for love and expect nothing in return...............

If I do something, I must see the result, and what is important, they must know I did it, for I must be recognised. I am very subtle when it deserves my ends and just when you think I’m gone; I rear my head again.

I am very vain and proud; tell me how great I am and I am happy. Don’t tell me how great I am and I will feel hurt and crawl back into my shell and cry, “Well fine, if that’s the way you’re going to act, then I will not share my gifts or thoughts with you. NO longer will I be your friend”. I retreat and become more alone.

I don’t like this religious life, for it threatens my life and makes me uneasy. Pompous ceremonies are fine, but oh, these meditations are terribly hard on me.

I don’t like the people who meditate because they begin thinking of others and not me, and wanting to help others and deny me. Why, I am made to sacrifice myself in order that they can do things for others and ............. I DON’T LIKE IT!!!

Gads! It’s horrible being in a body that does this meditating very long. Soon, I start screaming and have all kinds of tantrums; but, damn it, if they continue these meditations, then these little tricks of mine don’t have much affect on them and I’m unhappy. I try my damndest to make them feel alone, unhappy, persecuted, unwanted, unloved, not belonging, sick, crabby, restless, hungry, tired. Oh, I have all sorts of things I pull out of my bag of tricks. For once I get my foot in the door, I can play on the emotions in one form or another. I want them to know what they are doing to me.

I hate religious people who are humble, gracious and loving. That’s the worst part of all- LOVE- That Just Kills Me.......... Particularly this........ UNIVERSAL LOVE BIT.

When they persist in this Love and meditation, I am so unhappy, and I cry, “ you’re killing me”. All they say to me that my “carnal self dieth daily”. Gads, that’s me that they are killing. Finally, I sink beside the bed crying out for help. They are crucifying me on the cross of matter.... Me, the EGO; the carnal self. I plead, “ don’t do this to me, we have been together for so long, without you, I am dead.”

All they say to me is “ You must die in order that I may live, for by your living, I, the soul, am unhappy, and can be hurt and react to all kinds of Hateful, Negative remarks and acts in the world”. Thus, for many lives, you have made me unhappy and alone. Now you must die!!!!!

What will happen to me now??? Is there no life at all for me?, I ask. “No”, they reply, “ you must die as the carnal ego and the atoms from which you came be dispersed and sent forth this time for a higher calling and blest in the name of the Christ that hereafter they will be assembled together and used only for good”.

“So, goodbye, my EGO, God Bless you into a higher form of life”. they said to me. Thus I died, I, the EGO. But I will be born anew in a different vibratory patter and one day, I will learn the lesson of..... UNIVERSAL LOVE.

Good life versus Hard life...

Written by Rebecca Henley

When we go through life we cannot expect to come out unscathed! We cannot expect to make it to the end with a beautiful body and a wrinkleless face. We can, however, expect to have lived! To have lived a life of happiness, sadness, loveful, grateful, amazing, diverse, adverse time on this earth. But that's life! All that happens to us throughout this lifetime is programmed to teach us many lessons... It's all just one big plan, the universe's plan! We don't get a say wether we are going to be rich or poor, if we are going to make it in this world! When we are born we are given no choice but to enter into this 'harsh', 'beautiful' world as a baby, no choice is given to us at that time as we are unable to fend for ourselves until we reach an age of capability, usually around the 18th year. That is when we are deemed an adult! Some of us are 'lucky' enough to live the 'good life'... The life where we don't have to worry about anything or anyone, where we are provided for and tended every step of the way... Some of us are 'less fortunate'... We have to live the 'hard' life... Is there really any difference? The 'good' or the 'hard' life... Not really! Either life has it's ups and downs and it's adversities to overcome... We all begin to get choices at some stage in our lives and it is then that we get to choose for ourselves wether we want the 'good' life or the 'hard' life... That's what we'd like to believe! If we are programmed in the beginning to live happily all our life, then we will do as such... And if we are programmed at the beginning to live a torturous, arduous life... Then we will do as such... Our life is just one big lesson... Of letting go, forgiving, loving, losing, grieving, winning, living and yes! Dying... We don't get to choose the 'good' life, that life has been chosen for us... We don't get to choose the 'hard' life, that has also been chosen for us... The harder the path, the more we learn... The more we learn, the more able we are to teach... The more we are able to teach, the 'better' our lives become... So which life would you prefer to live, the 'good' life or the 'hard' life? As in the end it does get better... Because it's now that we get to choose! If we all started off with a good life, there'd be nothing to compare, starting off with a 'hard' life, many lessons learnt along the way, allows us to know and recognise the 'good' life when we finally reach it or find it accidentally, on purpose... Even those who live the 'good' life have to learn... But those who start off in the 'hard' life... Can be qualified to teach... Because we've lived it and survived it... And now the 'good' life can begin!

Waking Times

Spiritual cultivation is our responsibility and gift as human beings. At it’s core it means that we live properly, in harmony with nature and with principles that support life.

The definition of spirituality is growing as we now have access to such a vast range of information and ideas in our inter-connected world. In simple terms, a spiritual experience may be defined as a revelation, insight, meaningful hallucination or vision that brings about feelings of certainty of the existence of non-physical realms, often resulting in great peace and lasting emotional comfort.

For some it comes in a surprising flash or a near-death experience, however, for most, spirituality bears its fruits when this aspect of our humanity is carefully cultivated, integrating spiritual living into our daily lives.

Whatever the religion, dogma, inclination, tradition or methodology, spiritual experience is to be earned by all who seek it and work intentionally to achieve a deeper connection with this mysterious universe.

These seven fundamental habits of effective spiritual cultivation can be employed to the benefit of the seeker of any spiritual truth. Please enjoy them, and share with friends and family.
1. Make Time for Spiritual Cultivation

The great Taoist spiritual leader, Master Hua-Ching Ni, was once asked at a conference what he thought was the most fundamental spiritual practice of them all. His simple and surprising reply? ‘Go to bed early, wake up early.

For many spiritual traditions rising early to summon the purifying and energizing energies of the pre-dawn hours is ingrained in daily life. In Chinese medicine as well, the hours of the early morning hold special significance for purification of the body and spirit. The body is refreshed and empty, the mind is alert, yet relaxed. This is the most silent, peaceful, meditative and enlightening time of the day.

2. Respecting Food

Turning inward to nurture the spirit requires one to pay attention to the many things that influence the mind and body, of which food is perhaps at the top of the list.

Spiritual eating habits and practices are wide and varied, but demonstrating respect for food, first and foremost, strengthens one’s relationship to spirit. Fasting and strict dieting at certain times of the year are common to nearly all ritualistic traditions, and in this way, food aids in the creation of spiritual experience.

The physical components of the human body that make up the spiritual anatomy are also prone to contamination, toxification, entropy and so forth. Proper diet can assist in detoxifying the body and can be aimed at purifying specific organs and systems, like the Pineal Gland for example, to positively influence spiritual receptivity.

3. Personal Physical Practice

The human body is a magnificent receiver and transmitter of consciousness, as well as the cellular vault of memories, emotions, and energy. Like a finely crafted machine, it functions optimally when it is in good repair, well-maintained, clean, and free of wear and tear.

Regularly tending to the physical body with Yoga, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, swimming, walking, or in whatever enjoyable way possible, shows appreciation for life, body and spirit. Engaging the mind and will power in physical activity unifies the body and soul.

A personal, physical practice that evolves over time is the best way to comprehend and appreciate the full meaning of personal health.

4. Practice Mindfulness

Spiritual living is concerned with maintaining elevated consciousness in each moment of one’s life, so that one is never carried away by emotion or desire, and is always able to feel grateful and willing to serve.

Mindfulness offers an ever-unfolding process of infinitely expanding awareness, and is a learned and practiced behavior. Developing mindfulness as a habit requires intention, persistence and patience.

5. Introspection and Reflection

Living in a chaotic and busy world, pulled in many directions with a complex social matrix of advertising, opinions, advice, propaganda, and more, the personality is compelled to rise to many occasions, and the conscious and sub-conscious mind can develop conflicting interests.

Regular private introspection and reflection into one’s life creates a discourse with all versions of the self, and an opportunity for harmonization of all the fragments we divide ourselves into.

In the forms of thinking, writing, journaling, drawing, and reflecting, self-introspection is one’s greatest opportunity to understand the complete self and connect the dots among all aspects of one’s life.

6.  Meditation, Prayer, and Intention

Regular prayer and meditation is the cornerstone of spiritual cultivation, and, in all of its forms, is the act of using intention to communicate with the future. When we pray, for anything and in any way, we actively employ the principles of quantum physics on our own behalf.

Quantum physics ask the question of whether or not the design of the universe is influenced by human intention. The answer appears to be yes, and the spiritual person who prays is executing this cosmic intervention in practical terms. Simply suggesting a possibility to the universe infinitely increases its likelihood of coming to fruition.

Focused intention in the form of prayer and meditation opens up synchronicities, meaningful chance happenings, coincidences, and other signs of connectedness to spirit. In this way, and as one develops the habit of meditation and prayer, a dialogue is opened up with the cosmos and anything becomes possible.

7. Laugh and Cry

If spiritual cultivation has but one practical benefit, it is that it develops within us the humility to laugh and cry in order to mark the celebrate life. Laughing at the world is the ultimate way to acknowledge how finite, yet splendid life is. Crying is essential to our emotional survival.

Giving oneself the freedom to not take things too seriously and to laugh at obstacles makes life an effortless and enjoyable challenge. Letting oneself cry is the best way to be reminded of just how precious our humanity is. Doing both, with regularity brings tremendous emotional balance and clarity to life.

Conclusion

Spiritual cultivation is the ongoing commitment to the transformation of one’s life for the better. These suggestions are a humble offering of support in your journey towards the life you deserve, and a knowing nod of respect for taking on the most meaningful challenge of your life.

What is Empathy?

The Definitions: Empathy: the capability to share and understand another’s emotion and feelings. It is often characterized as the ability to “put oneself into another’s shoes,” or in some way experience what the other person is feeling. Healer: one that heals or attempts to heal. A person skilled in a particular type of therapy. People who treat illness or suffering by calling forth divine help or by attempting to control the body with the mind & spirit. Since prehistoric times healers have used such techniques as anointing with oil, the laying on of hands, & prayer. Empathy is the ability to read and understand people & be in-tune with or resonate with others, voluntarily or involuntarily of one's empath capacity. Empaths have the ability to scan another's psyche for thoughts and feelings or for past, present, and future life occurrences. Many empaths are unaware of how this actually works, & have long accepted that they were sensitive to others.

 Empaths Sense Deep Emotions

Empathy is a feeling of another's true emotions to a point where an empath can relate to that person by sensing true feelings that run deeper than those portrayed on the surface. People commonly put on a show of expression. This is a learned trait of hiding authentic expression in an increasingly demanding society.

An empath can sense the truth behind the cover and will act compassionately to help that person express him/herself, thus making them feel at ease and not so desperately alone. Empaths experience empathy towards family, children, friends, close associates, complete strangers, pets, plants and inanimate objects. Empathy is not held by time or space. Thus, an empath can feel the emotions of people and things at a distance. Some are empathic towards animals (ie: The Horse Whisperer), to nature, to the planetary system, to mechanical devices or to buildings etc. Others will have a combination of the above.

Empaths Have Deep Sense of Knowing

Empaths are highly sensitive. This is the term commonly used in describing one's abilities (sensitivity) to another's emotions and feelings. Empaths have a deep sense of knowing that accompanies empathy and are often compassionate, considerate, and understanding of others.

There are also varying levels of strength in empaths which may be related to the individualís awareness of self, understanding of the powers of empathy, and/or the acceptance or non-acceptance of empathy by those associated with them, including family and peers. Generally, those who are empathic grow up with these tendencies and do not learn about them until later in life.

 Empathy is Inherited

Empathy is genetic, inherent in our DNA, and passed from generation to generation. It is studied both by traditional science and alternative healing practitioners. Empathy has both biological/genetic and spiritual aspects. Empaths often possess the ability to sense others on many different levels. From their position in observing what another is saying, feeling and thinking, they come to understand another. They can become very proficient at reading another personís body language and/or study intently the eye movements. While this in itself is not empathy, it is a side-shoot that comes from being observant of others. In a sense, empaths have a complete communication package.

How Empathy Works

While there is much we don't yet understand about how empathy works, we do have some information. Everything has an energetic vibration or frequency and an empath is able to sense these vibrations and recognize even the subtlest changes undetectable to the naked eye or the five senses.

Words of expression hold an energetic pattern that originates from the speaker. They have a specific meaning particular to the speaker. Behind that expression is a power or force-field, better known as energy. For example, hate often brings about an intense feeling that immediately accompanies the word. The word hate becomes strengthened with the speaker's feeling. It is that person's feelings (energy) that are picked up by empaths, whether the words are spoken, thought or just felt without verbal or bodily expression.

From Christel Broederlow

There are different types of empaths who employ different psychic empathic traits.

These are the 10 levels of the empath:

Psychometry - the empathic ability to receive energy, information and impressions from objects, photographs or places
Telepathy - the empathic ability to read people's thoughts
Mediumship - the empathic ability to feel the presence and energies of spirits
Physical Healing - the empathic ability to feel other people's physical symptoms in your own body (and often the ability to heal, transform or transmute them)
Emotional Healing - the empathic ability to feel another person's emotions
Animal Communication - the empathic ability to hear, feel and communicate with animals
Nature - the empathic ability to read, feel and communicate with nature and with plants
Geomancy - the empathic ability to read the energy of places and of the land - geomancers can feel the energies of the Earth, such as Ley lines. They can also get headaches, pain or anxiety before earthquakes or other disasters occur anywhere on the planet.
Precognition - the empathic ability to feel when something important is about to happen (often this can be a feeling of inexplicable dread or doom)
Claircognizance or Knowing - the empathic ability to feel what needs to be done in any given circumstance, often accompanied by a feeling of peace and calm, even in the midst of a crisis

Psychic empathic traits not only involve the ability to receive energy, but also include the ability to heal in many cases. For this reason, an empath's life path is best suited to the healing arts, whether it is in the field of healthcare or counseling, or working with children, plants, animals, or even healing places through design and renovation. There are many different paths for how to become an empathic energy healer - you just need to determine which characteristics and levels of an empath resonate with you most. When you have a positive outlet for the psychic abilities of being empathic, you can experience peace and fulfillment. This allows you to overcome the overwhelming feelings of why an empath feels anxiety.

Meditation can be helpful for anyone to achieve a state of peace, but what is even more important for those with psychic empathic traits is to maintain constant grounding and protection. You must visualize yourself surrounded by a bubble or blanket of white light that shields and protects you from external energies. If you are extremely sensitive, you may want to increase these boundaries of protection by imagining a rainbow of layers around you, starting with a bubble of red light surrounding your body, followed by a layer of orange light, then yellow around that, then green, then blue, then indigo, then a layer of violet light, and finally a layer of white light around them all. It is also important to envision yourself grounded and connected to the Earth so you can remain balanced, stable and secure. It is helpful to use the affirmation "I am willing to receive all that is for the highest and best good of all for me to know, and I am protected and shielded from all else at all times".

Remember that those with psychic empathic traits are not only able to receive and pick up energy, but they can also project healing energy. The reason that empaths pick up on energy and information in the first place is because they have the power to do something about it.

One of the easiest methods for how to become an empathic energy healer is simply by using your intention. When you receive feelings from others, or even from the whole world, you can reverse the polarity and send out healing energy. Close your eyes, imagine that there is a vast sun above you that is sending down a beam of light into your heart and down into your hands. With all of your will and intent, send that light out from your heart and your hands, and direct it to wherever it needs to go for the highest and best good of all.

This is what will give you peace. The future is not set in stone and we are not victims. We have the gift of free will and the power to change, so we must not be afraid, even when it seems overwhelming.

Overcoming Being Unconsciously Empathic in Favor of Being Intentionally Multi-Dimensionally Connected

At birth we have a tendency to be energetically like little amoebas. We have unstructured borders. We move our energy fields in and around the energy fields of other people in order to check out how they are feeling. We do this instinctively in order to know how to get what we want, in order to be safe, or in order to understand that which is around us. As we grow older some people learn other methods of defense, understanding verbally, or methods of getting information. Some people do not learn other methods and continue to be empathic, being sponge-like in soaking up energy, information and emotions from other people. These people find it very difficult to understand where they stop and another person begins. They have a tendency to allow their boundaries to be invaded by other people. They do not understand the concept of personal boundaries. When a person is empathic it is difficult for them to have a good self image that is not controlled by the thoughts of other people about them. They do not have a clear impression of self hood and "others." This gift of being able to read other people empathically becomes more of a curse than a gift.

It is a time to give up being empathic and to rather get information for and about other people by communication directly with their Oversoul. In being empathic we are picking up information from others and carrying it for them, or acting it out for them, unconsciously. It is difficult to differentiate between what are our feelings and emotions and the emotions of others. Being empathic causes many people to be overweight and to be excessively emotional. We can cease to practice being unconsciously empathic by installing intentional balloons of cushion energy around ourselves, and by having an intention to communicate telepathically (rather than empathically) with the Oversouls of those we encounter.  3. They can be focused outward, toward what others feel, rather than themselves. This is a common trait to many people who have not gone through a process of self development.

 4. They avoid disharmony caused by emotionally turbulent situations. This type of situation can easily create an uncomfortable feeling because an empath feels this emotion.

 5. Empaths are emotionally sensitive to violence and general chaos.

 12. They can be good listeners as they generally have an interest in other people.

 13. Empaths can be moody or have large mood swings due to overwhelming thoughts, feelings and emotion.

 14. They are likely to have had, other paranormal experiences in their life. This could be astral projection, psychic ability or a variety of other experiences.

 15. Empaths are daydreamers that have difficulty keeping focused. This is common with people who deal more IN emotion and neglect other area's of their mind.

 16. Like many people on a spiritual path Empaths frequently experience déjà vu and synchronicities. This is something that occurs to everyone however empaths are often more aware and therefore 'look out' for it.

An Empath Discovers Healing Abilities: Hands-on Healing

I am an empath who got started down the path of hands-on-healing by myself. It began with a strong desire to help my children with their various sicknesses and that was how it started for me. I had been going to see someone for my health problem, she does hair analysis along with homeopathic remedies. I told her how helpless I felt about not being able to help my young children, and because she knew me and my history, she told me she knew I could do hands-on-healing.

 White Light Protection

First she gave me something to say before I started, to protection myself and to channel the white light, and then she told me to position my hands above the problem area.

I begin by kneeling next to the person laying down on the floor and hold my hands upwards with my first finger and thumb touching each other. I take 3 deep breaths to get myself focused on what I am going to do. At that point I begin to feel the energy flowing through my hands and body. For some reason the kneeling position creates the strongest energy for me, not that I can't do it any position, but I believe in the kneeling position all your chakra’s are aligned.

 Inviting Spirit Helpers

I picture a white light swirling around me starting from my feet and going up to my head. I say to myself "Divine Light of the Highest Order under the Protection of Archangel Michael" 3 times. It brings in the "good light" and Archangel Michael to protect you. I invite my spirit guides and guardian angels into the session, and then I invite the persons spirit guides and guardian angels into the healing session (I say it just that simply).

 Energetically Sensing Auric Field

I work on the aura level, which means that I can sense with my hands, where the energy field is a few inches above the person’s body. I start by passing my hands over the body several times (sweeping motion), starting from the head and moving to the feet. I believe this smoothes out the aura, and relaxes the person who is being worked on.

I then begin by placing my hands above the head and slowly move towards the person's feet, making only one pass of the hands. I will stop only when my hands "feel" a spot where there is energy. I stay in that spot until I feel like it has "cleared" or that I get the feeling that I am done for now. When I get the sensation that the energy spot or chakra has "cleared" it's almost as if a breeze has blown between my hands and the person. Other times, the energy spot or chakra may not be "cleared" but I get the feeling that that is enough for now and move on. You don't want to "push" the person beyond what they are capable of handling. I end at the soles of the feet.

Sometimes I get a pulsing sensation going between my two hands, sometimes it is just a warm sensation, other times, the energy feels "stuck" and so I will move my hands in a circular motion above the area to get the energy moving and then will stop and hold my hands still again. I am also able to "see" things sometimes when working on people and ask for their permission to tell them what I see.

 Sweeping the Aura

When I am done with the one pass of my hands-on-healing from head to toe, I will go back to the head and brush down the aura a few inches above the body by using a sweeping motion towards to feet, approximately 3 times picturing a white protection light as I finish.

 Energy Healing's Learning Curve

In the beginning, I did not have anyone to help me, so I read a few books, one of them is Healing with Gemstones and Crystals written by Diane Stein. I learned to use healing crystals for a layout along with the hands-on-healing. What the book could not tell me, I had to learn by doing. Fortunately there were a few enlightened souls who could tell me what I was doing wrong and who could help correct themselves. One the first two people who let me do a hands-on-healing I made 3 passes over the body, and that was just too much energy for them to handle, it opened up the energy or chakra spot too much. At first I would also "push the energy" instead of letting myself be the vessel and let the energy flow, and that is not a good thing to do either.

It is still sometimes hard for me to totally protect myself enough so I don't "take in" their energy. I try to make a mental note before I start that I will not take on this person’s feelings or energy, to sort of disassociate myself from what is going to take place. I will usually let cold water wash over my hands when I am done or let my hands go through dry sea salt to get the "energy" out of my hands.

I have been doing this for about 10 years, and I feel I must have done this in another life, because it came to me so naturally. The people I work on tell me they feel very relaxed afterwards, but I know that something more has happened. By Linda Foltyn
